In addiction and recovery, we often try to hide what we perceive as shameful, embarrassing, offensive or events or outcomes we may feel guilt or regret about. However, we should try to see them as “badges” of experience, growth, development and achievement.
We look to those who have been in our situation for strength, motivation and encouragement, like “role models” for want of a better term, but we often can’t or don’t want to see ourselves being in that role for others, which most often totally not true!
Without being aware of it, you will be motivating and encouraging other’s just as we are/were.
If you can, try to be proud of your accomplishments, achievements, successes and efforts to succeed and grow, even if they are huge milestones or one step at a time.
Remember – Your achievements and successes are inspiring and motivating others. By helping yourself, you are also helping others!…
If you are struggling, want to change your life, achieve goals and motivate and inspire others, you can find organisations, charities & groups who can help on our help and support page here.
